Kiroku Tensha Holidays: Happy New Year!!! (2017 Version)

Happy New Year, Everyone!

Its the time of the year again when, well...the year comes to a close and there is no better way of closing it out with a blog post, right?

For this year's version, I chose to have a look back to 2016 coupled with some pictures. As you can see in the picture above, just like in driving a car, you can go forward, but you always have to look back (in the rear view mirror).

Kiroku Tensha Holidays: A very Merry Christmas! (2016 Version)

It's Christmas Time, and I'm warm inside, despite the bitter cold

It's the time of the year again, and so a little before Christmas Eve, here is a post to celebrate this very important holiday not only for us here in the Philippines, but the whole world, to be exact.

For Allison Lenneth - On her 5th Birthday

"brighter than a shooting star, shine no matter where you are"

To our dearest Allison,

Okay, so just like that, the day is finally here...You are now 5 years old!

I know, it is not 7, nor 16, or even 21.

Happy Mother's Day! - To all the Mothers out there

"All that I am, I owe to my Mother" - George Washington

Tomorrow, we (here in the Philippines) are going to make an important decision for our country, and that is choosing the next leader/president. That is one big decision to make, but in all honesty, if making important and big decisions is the game, I have to say that our moms did that...and more.

NCP Photoshoot for A Cause 2016: A Photoshoot Event...with a Heart

It is not a secret that photography is my hobby and one of my favorite subjects to shoot are "cosplayers", so participating in photo shoots with some of them every once in a while has been a goal for me.  Having said that, I also look forward to participating in events that are for charitable causes.

Question: Can cosplay, photography, and charity go hand in hand in one event?

Conclusion:  Enter National Cosplayers of the Philippines (NCP) and their annual "Photoshoot for a Cause" event.

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (69/366)

Hey! You know the drill eh? Entry time again, peeps.

For this entry, I chose to post a photo of the toys that my daughter really loves to collect right now. You know, those little collectibles called "Shopkins."

My daughter has so far collected more than 30 of these little toys and I thought it will be a good idea to borrow some for a little photo-op. Also, this will be my first entry in this photo project which used my newly acquired flash gun.

So here it is
:
"Once you shop, you can't stop"

Here is the thing; these Shopkins are numbered at around 150+ unique and different designs per season and the seasons are now numbered four, so that is a LOT to collect if ever my daughter decides to collect them all. Yikes!

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (67/366)

Entry time again, peeps.

For this entry, I am posting a picture of my current mobile phones. Now, compared to other people who always make it a point that they are updated on their phones, I am going on an opposite route. For me, as long as something is still serviceable and can still do most of the things I need, I still use them and that goes for mobile phones too.

As you can see, I am using two old models; an iPhone 4 (Yep! That is a Four not a Four S) and an Xperia Mini Pro, both can be considered old units, but Hey! They still perform well and as far as I am concerned, they cannot be considered as obsolete units.

Here they are:

"Old Not Obsolete"

Now, why did I post this, you may ask? Well, it is a simple reminder that we have to set our priorities. New phones can be a pain in the ass to pay, financially and fact is, phones depreciate in value faster since models come and go. Your hard earned money needs to go to something more important than keeping up-to-date with techie stuff, right?

That is just my two cents, though.

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (64/366)

Hey! You know the drill eh? Time for another entry to my photo project. Now, this entry is a photography-related one.

I have been using a DSLR before I even started blogging and for as long as I can remember, I have been a very keen "natural light" kind of photographer as I prefer using ambient light rather than using a light source like an external flash.

However, times change and I have to admit that as I took more and more photos, I found that there are certain times and situations that I need an external flash. Long story short, I did give in and got myself a flash unit, here it is:

"Strobistmus"

I have been using it for a while and I have to say, it adds another dimension to my photography and I am happy with it.

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (60/366)

Hey Peeps! Time again for another entry on my Snaps and Thoughts 366 section, Now, this one is extra special. Why? Because it is an entry for the 29th of February.

As we all know, A "February 29" only happens on a leap year and a leap year happens every four years. So that is like, every four years, we get an extra day which brings our day count for that year to 366 from 365, now tell me if that is not special huh?

One more thing about this extra day that is February 29, did you know that I forgot that this year is a leap year, so when I started my photo project, it was really named "Snaps and Thoughts 365", but when I realized my mistake, I corrected it to 366? Yes, that really happened and it was actually cool since having it changed to 366 kinda makes my Photo project more special.

Anyway, enough of the intro, here is the pic:

"Extra Day"

Let us all make a good one out of this extra day, because you know, we only get this day once every four years, right? Make it count, peeps!

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (50/366)

Okay, time again for another entry to my kinda "on and off, off and on" Photo Project for 2016. This time around, I chose to post a picture of a shot that I cannot seem to perfect every time I do it.

The thing I am talking about is a "Moon Shot", it is kinda funny to see how good the moon shots around the internet is and whenever I try to do one myself, I always find myself baffled with the fact that I cannot achieve a good - or even a decent - one and kinda gave up on it. However, I find the night sky so tranquil in the wee hours today, so I just took my camera and snapped the night sky. Here it is:

"Moonshine"

Well, did I do good this time? Nah! Not even close, ha ha ha! Unlucky me!

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (46/366)

Hey, Peeps! It is time again for another entry to this ongoing photo project of mine. Well, I still have the hangover from the day of love that was "Valentine's Day" so for this entry, the theme of Love will still continue.

This time I chose a picture connected of a very familiar thing that you will see on the day of hearts. I am talking about no other than the "classic" - Roses - three of them!

"Three Stem Roses - Classic"

Love is a very special feeling and a testament to that is it has its special day, so there is no reason not to feature it in this ongoing Photo 366...twice!

Until next time then,

Ciao!

February 14, 2016

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (45/366)

Hey, Peeps! It is a Lovely Day today, don't you think?  Today does not really not need too much of an introduction since it is an important day that all can agree on. Of course, you know what I am saying, it is the day of Love - Valentine's Day!

Since it is the day of Love and as they say - Love is in the Air - for this entry, I chose a picture connected to this day. As you know, I am a music lover and whenever it is Valentine's Day, there is only one song that is first off the gates of my playlist for this day - Rivermaya's classic love song:

"214"

Now, I just want all to remember that Love is much more than a single holiday and basically Valentine's Day can be every day of the year if you want to. However, there is no reason not to celebrate on this day, so for all of us, let us all have a very good Valentine's Day today.

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (38/366)

Hey Peeps! Okay, I know, there was a BIG "gap" after the last post on this series. Fact is, I was overwhelmed by things and stuff that has happened for the past several days. Honestly, I never thought keeping up with a photo project like this will be a bit harder, but despite of that, there is no way that I will be quitting on this, Nope! So here I am picking up from where I left off, so bear with me and my delays.

For this entry, I am presenting you a golden rule if you have a lot of important data that you don't wanna end up getting lost forever due to unexpected circumstances. Here it is:

"Sir, I will ask you to Back Up"

It is really a good habit to back up your files and if you will ask me, I have not one, but TWO backups for everything, just to be sure.

Until next time then,

Ciao!

#Yahtzee - 10,000 Views

"10,000 Pageviews, Baby!!!"

The last time I did a "milestone" post was back when this Blog O'Mine reached 2000 views and I can still remember the feeling that I had when I saw the pageview counter of my blog  hit two-thousand.

Fast forward to today, well I guess that feeling can be multiplied five times over! Why? Because this day, the blog hits another important milestone - 10,000 Pageviews, Baby!!!

10,000 views ain't no joke, Thanks to all who made this possible

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (25/366)

Okay, it is a Monday and it is the first day of the week. Gotta start it with an entry to my Photo 366 project, don't you think? It is now the 25th entry although I have to admit, there were a lot of skips here and there, but as per rules on a year-long photo project - if you skip, just move on.

For this entry, I chose a picture of a kitchen equipment, an important one, by the way. Here it is:

"Staple Cooker"

Well, to be honest, as a Pinoy, I cannot imagine going a whole day without eating rice, so I guess a Rice Cooker is a "heaven sent" invention, as far as my opinion goes, LoL!

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (23/366)

Hey there again, peeps. After I promised that I will not be skipping a large chunk of days in this photo project, guess what? I missed three full days! Oh man, the day job can really eat up a lot of time and it really is annoying that it make me skip multiple days... on my own project, to boot!

Anyway, I really cannot ponder on things that are lost and cannot be taken back, so better move forward with the project. Here is the entry for day 23, a really tasty treat, if you will ask me.

"Heavenly Cheese Rolls"

Well, I gotta say, those cheese rolls right there are some of the best ones that you can taste, no kidding! Truly Heavenly.

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (19/366)

Hello there peeps! To be honest, I am feeling a little under the weather right now, no thanks to the bloody weather which in turn gave me coughs and colds...with a matching fever to boot! Sheesh! Oh well, weather is really interesting here in the Pearl of the Orient Seas; more "Fun" as they say.

Anyway, for the 19th entry to my ongoing photo project, I chose to post a thing that has been my buddy since my illness acted up - the trusty inhaler. Here it is:

"De-Clog"

Until next time then,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (18/366)

Photo Project post time again! This is now the 18th entry for the photo project.

For this post, I chose to upload a photo I took while cruising on the autobahn. It features three things that starts with the letter "C" that connects with my personality - That is Co-Rics (Rico Blanco's New Album playing on my phone), Coffee (An iced coffee), and Canon (The Lens Cap).

Here is entry number 18:

"C3 - Co-Rics, Coffee, and Canon"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (17/366)

Hey! This is now the 17th entry of my photo project. Okay, why 17th already? Due to some things I have to attend to I was not able to follow up on my 11th entry quickly and as a rule of thumb for 365/366 Photo Projects, if you skipped a day, then it is better to let it slide and move on to the next. In my case, I skipped five days, so I have to move forward and move on from it. Hopefully, that will be the last time I skip a lot of days in this project of mine.

Anyway, here is the 17th entry for the project:

"Sunday Driving"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (11/366)

Hey Peeps, here we are again for another entry to my Photo Project 366. Now, I have to ask you a question: Are you a Final Fantasy fan? Why do I ask, you say? Well, if you are a Final Fantasy fan, especially of Final Fantasy VII, I am sure you will be able to relate to my chosen picture for this entry.

You know what a "Gunblade" is right? Let me introduce to you folks...the 11th entry to this series:

"Gunsaw"

Yeah, I know you will ask where did I get this, right? Turns out this unique saw is in the possession of a carpenter friend who told me that this was a family heirloom of sorts. A nice one if you will ask me. Too bad this thing does not have the extra damage feature that Squall's gunblade has, LoL!

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (10/366)

Time for another entry to my ongoing Photo 366 project. As a result of not being able to post since the eighth entry, here I am binge-posting so I can catch up and make up for days that I missed. Bear with me guys, LoL!

For this entry, I am posting a photo of my daughter dressed as one of the flower girls in a wedding that we recently attended. Truth is, she really is not feeling well as she has a bout with conjunctivitis at that time (just look at her eyes in the picture). Despite that, she did not disappoint with her stint as a flower girl. Ain't she cute in that dress?

Here is the 10th entry for Snaps and Thoughts 366:

"Flower Girl"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (9/366)

Okay, it has been a while since I followed up on my Photo Project 366. I have to admit, I never thought that undergoing this project will be tedious and keeping track of it on a day-to-day basis will be a chore, huh? Anyway, if there is a silver lining, it is that I can always catch up. Thank God for that.

Ninth Entry - I chose to post a photo of my trusty camera which has been a constant buddy of mine in this blog. Most of the pictures that come hand in hand with my posts are shot by this camera. Folks, please welcome: "Wan-Wan" my reliable Canon EOS 1100D. A very obvious choice of name, right?

Entry Level Power, On!!!

"Wan-Wan"

Until next time,

Ciao!

January 9, 2016

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (8/366)

Okay, here we are on the eight entry to my Photo 366 Project. Now, this one will be a very meaningful one, as in a "personal level of meaningful." As you can see the photo I am posting today is of two picture frames. These picture frames are from me and my wife's wedding from five years ago. So, as we are currently celebrating our "Wood" anniversary, I guess there is no reason not to feature a photo of our wedding in this photo project of mine.

Here it is, the eight entry to my Snaps and Thoughts 366 series, Cheers to me and my wife too.

"Anniversary"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Flower Girl Version 2.0

She improved on her second stint

Just a few months after her first stint as a flower girl, our daughter seems to be on a roll as she was asked to be a part of another wedding entourage - as a flower girl - again. Now, none could be happier with that news than us, her parents, of course.

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (7/366)

Hey! Photo 366 Project entry time again. I chose this photo I took while I was having a break from my work. I don't know why, but I think taking a snap of those padlocked lockers has an eerie vibe to it. Silly, right?

Anyway, Seventh entry to my Snaps and Thoughts 366 series, come on down!

"Locker Room Lore"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (6/366)

Hello! Time for another addition to my Photo 366 project. This entry features an unopened pack of a very popular British food item. A biscuit made from shortbread with either a raspberry or strawberry jam filling. I am talking about the famous "Jammy Dodgers"

Named after Roger the Dodger from the Beano comics, this food item is more memorable to me when I saw a certain popular British character use a piece of this biscuit as a counterfeit "self destruct button" to fool an evil race. Too genius..for a Doctor.

Anyway, here is the sixth entry to my Snaps and Thoughts 366 series.

"A pack of Self Destruct Buttons"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (5/366)

Hey peeps! Here is another entry to my photo project. This time around, this one is shot with a mobile phone camera - a lowly 5MP camera, that is!

You see, as photo projects require you to have a photo every day as possible and DSLRs can be cumbersome, there are times that you have to shoot with what you always have with you and that is, the proprietary camera on the mobile phone. Well, they do a great job, in fairness. You know the saying "It is not the camera, but the photographer" right? That rings true, always.

Anyway, here is my fifth entry to my Snaps and Thoughts 366 series and here is also a quote to go with it.
“Life is like a pavement. Some slabs are perfect, others broken or cracked, but at the end it is always a complete and perfect slab.”
"Pavement"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (4/366)

Time for another entry for my Photo 366 Project. For this one, I chose a picture of something in relation to what I want to concentrate on this year (my Guitar playing and Music, in general) - my Trusty Amplifier.

Here is today's entry for my Snaps and Thoughts 366 series:

"Sound Check"

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (3/366)

For the 3rd entry on my Photo 366 Project - which again, I am posting quite a bit late of schedule - I choose to put a picture with cats on it; kittens to be exact.

Without further ado, here is the third Snaps and Thoughts 366 entry:

"Two Kittens and a Cutie"

Oh, the girl in the picture is my very own daughter who is growing up to be a cat lover. Ain't that fantastic?

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (2/366)

Okay, as you all know, I have started a Photo Project for this year and it is a 366 project (since 2016 is a leap year) and guess what? I had not uploaded a photo on the second day! Sheesh!!! Anyway, as the saying goes, it is better late than never, right?

So here is my second entry to my Snaps and Thoughts 366 project, a photo of something cute that we received as gifts from the holidays.

"Charge to Cuteness"

Stay tuned for the next entry.

Until next time,

Ciao!

Snaps and Thoughts 366 - My 2016 Photo Project (1/366)

Hey Peeps! Happy New Year!

For my first post for the year 2016, I am going to start with a Daily Photo Project. For the uninitiated, this will be a Photo Journal for the whole year where I will have to post one picture a day, every day of the year. I have been pondering about this idea for some time now and I guess there is no right time to start it than the first day of the year. I will call this project of mine - "Snaps and Thoughts 366"

For my first photo entry for my Snaps and Thoughts 366 series, I present this picture titled...

"Eleventh Hour is Over"

Update (January 1, 2016 21:56): What makes this photo project more special is that I got to do this on a "leap year" hence the 366 instead of 365. I missed that before and had made the corrections in this post.

Until next time,

Ciao!
