First Time Flower Girl

A First of many, hopefully

When our daughter was asked to be a flower girl, that for sure was one proud moment for us - her parents - as we consider things like this as a milestone in our little girl's life.

The best part of it was this will be her "first time" being a flower girl for a wedding, so that doubles the excitement for us. Another interesting thing is, the bride for the aforementioned wedding was one of our Secondary Sponsors in our very own wedding a few years back, so it is like sort of - returning of a favor - kind of thingamajig.

The wedding was held last September and during the event, our dear Allison was the youngest and smallest among all the flower girls - she is just three years old, so that is expected, I guess. The funny thing is, you may even mistake her for being a saling-pusa; however that is not the case.

Now, as a first timer,  one concern is if our daughter will walk down the aisle at the day of the event itself. I was really expecting that she would not walk the whole length of the aisle; however, my wife was confident that Allison will do, and what do you know? Mothers really know best as our little flower girl did walk the aisle (although you can call it a trudge too as she was taking some few seconds of pauses between steps.) Good job, Allison!

Allison did great considering it is her first time. It was a relief when she finished walking the whole length of the aisle.

Smug all you want girl, because you did well!
Things we learned from this experience:

* Letting the flower girl have her nap before the event was Ace - A good sleep will always be beneficial if a child will be taken to an event like a wedding which can span up to a couple hours, or more.

* Orienting our daughter for her role as a flower girl was essential - Ever since we are informed that Allie will be one of the flower girls, my wife wasted no time and made sure our daughter know what role she will do as a flower girl either by showing pictures or making her watch videos. Gotta credit the missus for that!

* A Dry Run does not hurt - A week before the wedding, we took our daughter to the church to familiarize her with the place and even made some dry runs of how she will walk down the aisle. That really helped on the actual event itself.

All in all, our dear daughter's first time as a flower girl goes uneventful and even exceeded my expectations, to be honest. It can be filed as a complete success. We are very proud of you, Allison!

I am confident that this is just a first of many, hopefully, and I am looking forward to the next time our daughter assumes the flower girl role again.

Update:  Since her first time being a flower girl, our daughter had additional occasions where she assumed the role of the flower girl and as always, I had documented those times too.  Here are the links to those "repeat performances."

Flower Girl version 2.0

Until next time,

Ciao!

  1. She is so cute! Our little girl will be the flower girl in my sister’s wedding. Of course, we are excited and waiting for the event! The wedding will be in the march next year in one of the most beautiful DC wedding venues. It's going to be a very special day indeed!
