NCP Photoshoot for A Cause 2017: "Cosplay Shoot for Charity going strong at sixth"

"Summer, Shutter, Fundraiser"

As summer and vacation starts in earnest, the National Cosplayers of the Philippines once again held their annual "Photoshoot For A Cause" event, which now is on its Sixth Year.  Of course, yours truly, having participated on last year's edition, was not going to let this one pass up.

Join me after the jump for the whole feature of this event:

This is now my second consecutive year of participating in this unique event which is organized by The National Cosplayers of the Philippines. "Photoshoot for a Cause" is one of the group's successful and awaited annual event that uses the combination of cosplay and photography as means to raise funds for a charitable cause.

As always, instead of monetary payment as entrance fee for the event, participants (cosplayers and photographers) were asked to bring school supplies (a uniform quantity of pencils, notebooks, eraser, sharpener, intermediate pads and the like) which in turn will benefit needy schoolchildren of a pre-selected school.

"Sa Uste Ulit!"
Just like last year, the sixth edition of the event was again held at the University of Santo Tomas grounds in Manila and to be honest, I liked the venue last year, so I was elated that it has not changed for this year's event.

The day of the event falls on a Sunday; however, unlike last year, I arrived at the venue a couple of hours late from the call time, but I can say that the turnout this year was a big improvement from the last one.

There are more cosplayers and photographers this time around (alright!). As per protocol, cosplayers and photographers alike were divided into groups and groups were paired and took turns for individual/group photo shoots in various locations that the grounds of the university has to offer (except inside the buildings and other restricted areas).

Since the event is being held in May, I expected that the heat and humidity will be a factor, so I came prepared and so as the other participants. However, the weather had a little surprise for us all - Throughout the course of the day, rainshowers literally rained on our parade and just drop outta nowhere and send cosplayers and photographers alike running for cover in a jiffy (tough luck eh?). Unfortunately for the weather, our passion is greater and even with the "umaaraw, umuulan" scenarios, we still soldiered on to get the best angles, best emotions, and the decisive moments to take the best photographs possible.

Here are some of the photos that I have taken in the event:

By the end of the day, all the participants had more than their fill of photos and stories to share from the event.

There are even moments like this - Awesome!

As for me, my second year of participating in the event is another unique experience. It was a blast seeing the wonderful people I met last year in the event and also getting to meet new cosplayers and photographers alike. Of course, we cannot also discount the fact that this event is all in the name of charity and as always, the feeling of being able to do what you love and at the same time helping others is simply fantastic. I am going to chalk this event up as another memorable and purposeful experience in my book.

"The Usual Culprits" - The good people of National Cosplayers of the Philippines

Just like before, in behalf of this blog, I would like to thank the National Cosplayers of the Philippines for doing another "great" job in organizing the sixth edition of this photo shoot which undoubtly gave cosplayers and photographers alike the chance to lend a helping hand in making a difference in someone else's life through this charity event.  It was another qualified success!

These will go a long way for the beneficiaries

To close this one out, here are three words I came up with that sums up Photoshoot for a Cause: "Summer, Shutter, Fundraiser"

As always, I will look forward to attending (and covering) future editions of this event in the future.

Until next time,

Ciao!
