Being a resident on the North Caloocan Area, for the longest time (that is since 1997), the only mall lording it over in that area is SM City Fairview, so having an Ayala Mall being opened in the vicinity is a very WELCOME news for us.
New Kid on the Block |
Just last Sunday, me and my family had decided to pay this new Mall a visit. (It was opened on February 28, mind you guys.)
Now, I really wanted to double up this visit as a review of this New Mall; however, upon arriving and strolling around the mall, there are only a few stores open and I guess, it will be unfair giving a review to a mall where most of it shops are not yet or "SOON to be" opened. So I will just chronicle our little "Pasyal" and highlighting some of the mall's features and then do a FULL review the next time we visit the place with more of its roster of shops fully functional - that will be FAIR enough.
For one, the mall is a very refreshing alternative to the SM Fairview we are used to visiting with. (No offense, but I do "Love" SM Fairview, I want to make THAT clear.)
The setup of The Terraces (Ayala Fairview Terraces) is very different from the setup of the SM Fairview mall across its lot. The way I can describe the comparison is the aesthetic differences of curiously, another Ayala-owned mall, Trinoma and the SM North Edsa just across it. I know most have been to those popular malls in North Avenue, so I guess you are getting my point, I assume.
As I said earlier, most of the stores are not yet open, so with some parts of the mall being a "Ghost town" of sorts, our daughter really had a field day running around the mall. Napagod kami ni misis kakahabol, but I guess we have to enjoy it that way. Kapag nagbukas na kasi ang lahat ng stores, sigurado hindi na ganito kalaki at kalawak ang tatakbuhan ng aming tsikiting.

Me and my wife really love Yoshinoya, especially the Gyudon (Beef Bowl). Back then, the only mall accessible to us that has a branch of this Japanese Fastfood outlet is SM North Edsa, so whenever we feel we need a fix of the good ol' Gyudon, we have to go to the North Avenue area to have one. Well, not anymore.
Yep! At last, there is a Yoshinoya Branch at the Fairview area now! Hurray for that! Definitely this branch is a good reason for us visiting The Terraces since SM Fairview does not have one.
Another thing to mention is the Branch of Tom's World at The Terraces. Since we have a kid who loves to ride little horses and little cars, we are always a frequent visitor to the amusement centers whenever we are at a mall. They have these little vehicles that run on tokens. For 10 Php/1 token you will be able to ride one of these for two minutes. The best thing about it is, they have ample space for you to drive these vehicles around the vicinity, something that you cannot do at the other mall across the street (Because of space issues). If you are worrying about bumping into something or someone in these cars, well do not fear! These cars do have sensors that will automatically hit the brakes whenever you are at least a foot or two away from an obstacle that you may accidentally bump to (Nice safety feature for accelerator-happy kids). My wife had a good time driving one of these with our daughter. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, para lang siyang nagdi-drive ng 'matic na kotse, LoL!
I hope the setting of the arcade and the ample space it has right now stay the way as it is when other shops open and more people flock to this mall. Well, I will just keep my fingers crossed.
Now, there folks, our short but enjoyable "Pasyal" at the newly opened Ayala Fairview Terraces. The next time we visit here, I do hope more shops are good to go so that I can do a fair review of the mall itself.
