The TARDIS has landed at the Terraces – A visit at the Filbar’s Ayala Fairview Terraces Branch

“If you want a quick snap or “Selfie” with a life-sized TARDIS, then you gotta drop by at this Filbar’s Outlet!”

It is obvious (if you track back with my previous posts) that I am a Whovian and being one, what I would love to see and take pictures with are things that are related to the Doctor Who universe. On top of that list of course, is having a snap with a TARDIS replica, a BIG one specifically. Unfortunately, some of those can only be found when there are conventions of sorts and finding one is even a hit or miss on those conventions, so as bad as it may sound, it is basically hard to find one, let alone have a picture taken with one..

Well, not anymore, take a look at this picture below...

Yep, my friends (especially the Whovians), what you are seeing on the picture above is a TARDIS replica and guess where it has landed...err, I mean situated? At the recently opened Filbar’s outlet at the Ayala Fairview Terraces.

The Doctor sure knows how to fit the Blue Box in tight spaces, huh?!

Okay a bit of trivia first: Filbar’s has been the Philippines’ go-to store for anything comic book-related and fandom stuff and guess what? It has been around since 1979, providing the regular dose of those things for the last 34 years.  Earlier last year, it has been taken over by a new management – Collecticons Inc., and since then, there has been a major overhaul of their current outlets and they also introduced new designs for the new ones, sort of like a "Reboot" kind of thing.

For their Ayala Fairview Terraces branch, I gotta tell you, Filbar’s does not hold back on the creativity and ingenuity too. You see, this TARDIS replica in the middle of their shop (which is the first one that catches the eye of a passerby) is actually built around a post and functions as a shelf of their collectible merchandise. Now, that I will say, is a work of a GENIUS! Turning an unattractive post to a very detailed replica of the iconic TARDIS? Man, the Doctor is going to approve!

Of course, since this is a TARDIS shelf, one side is dedicated to all Doctor Who-related merchandise. (Rejoice! Whovians..and prepare your wallet)

One more feature that this Filbar’s TARDIS replica has - one that I personally consider awesome - is the doors on the front are not just stationary doors.  It actually opens up just like it does in the series (Just ask the accomodative staff to do it for you). Okay, hold your horses..it opens, but unlike the real TARDIS, there is no console in there and definitely is not “Bigger on the Inside”. Instead, there is just little room there to store their ladders and cleaning stuff, but Hey! It is still a nice touch and with that feature, you can do shots like this which I think, most of the Whovians out there would love to do:

Of course, the TARDIS replica is not the only reason that you have to visit this branch. They have a lot of stuff that caters to a lot of fans too. Fanatics of Game of Thrones can find their fix of merchandise here, as well as fans of Marvel comics. Speaking of comics, they have a lot of it too.  They even have things that are on sale too and if you are a collector, saving some dough and buying your fix of collectible or magazine/comics is an irresistible combination. This Filbar’s branch is a very welcome addition to the growing number of shops opening at the Ayala Fairview Terraces and if you have the time, there is a lot of reasons for you to drop by this branch.
